Fabrics and sewing books

The girls have grown again and are in need of some new summer clothes. I joined KCWC and I need to be prepared to get the most out of it. I have a big stack of lovely fabrics waiting to be turned in summer outfits. The list what I need/want to make for the girls is growing every day, they both need some spring/summer coats, shorts and of course a dress or two.... For almost all the clothes I make for the kids I use patterns from my pile of Japanese sewing books, I like the simple shape of the clothes much better than the patterns you'll find in Burda and Knippie. Do you like sewing clothes for your kids? What patterns do you like to use?

Fijne dag! Suus

I sew a lot of my youngest daughter's clothes. I recently made her a bunch of shorts and ruffled halter tops using Oliver & S patterns and Aneela Hooey's new Sherbet Pips fabrics...so cute!!!
I'll post a couple of pics on the blog today :) Can't wait to see what you make for your little girls. I've never used any Japanese patterns...I'm so intimidated by the pattern tracing aspect of it! ha!

Oh what a lovely selection of fabrics you have to use!! Completely agree with you as regards Japanese patterns and yes I used to love sewing clothes for my kids but this year I have been too busy to do so with starting a full time teaching job. I really miss sewing. Am itching for summer holidays and then I hope to get back to it!

Inspireer me ;-) Groetjes, Rozalinde

Japanese patterns are the best, straightforward and simple, I adore the simple shapes and the fact they are very practical... happy sewing then!

I like to "remake" what she had and make a bigger version of it. I made a bath-robe recently from a smaller one. It's fun and actually less complicated than following a pattern.
