Here it is the new room of the girls. The base of the room is white (lots of it) I choose this because of their age ( 7& 9) they are still sweet girls now but they are growing fast and will be teenagers to soon with their own taste etc.. so I wanted to start with a blank canvas, by adding lots of textile and colours I tried to soften it and give it a cozy look. Because the room is quite small and we wanted to fit in as much as possible, we build all things ourself to get the most out of the room. We used a simple IKEA bunkbed as a base together with a clothes-wardrobe we once made and intergrated two desks, a small reading bench, a play corner for Mila and bookshelves. The girls and I are really excited and happy it's finished now and can show it to you, hope you like it too.
Today I want to itroduce you to 5 bloggers from my hometown Rotterdam

I hope you enjoyed this little tour in my "neighbourhood"
Some of the pictures I took in the house of 101-woonideeen magazine, the house was a big contrast with last years house ( all black and white )I really liked all the textures and the collection of boxes and old suitcases.
This weekend I was at the woonbeurs, I shared a table with Jane from All the luck in the world and had a really lovely time. The 101-woonideeen house looked really nice and we had a very comfortable table with sewing machine and actually managed to get some work done in between chatting to visitors and each other ( it is so great and inspiring to talk to a fellow blogger and designer in person and I'm full of ideas and energy now ;-)
Before summer holiday we started with a big move inside our house and it took quite some time to get everything in place and finished, my old workroom/our study became our new bedroom, again lots of white. Now almost all the redecoration is completed we just need to give the hallway a new and fresh look. I will post some pictures of the girls room next week, their room is also finished and looking quite nice if I may say so! Now I have to get screenprinting for the Woonbeurs this weekend, I plan to bring some doll-sets and fabric sets, I will be charing my table with Jane, lucky me! I hope to see you too!!
I finally managed to finish my new workroom, I really love having my own space and with all the white it looks quite big and tidy for such a small room!
The girls had birthday parties to attend this weekend and gifts where needed, we arranged these sewing boxes, I made little pincushions and the girls helped with winding the threads and ribbons around the cardstock. I bought some really sweet "punnik" dolls( I don't know the english word ;-) and sweet suitcases in matching colours. I think this is such a fun thing to give to girls and what I like is that you can make this in any price range. For the dutch readers, I found the punnik-dolls at Xenos they have some really sweet things there at the moment!
I have some really nice news to share with you, I have been invited to be at the woonbeurs in Amsterdam in the '101-woonideeenhuis' ( my favourite interior design magazine) to demonstrate and show my work there. I'm really excited about that and look forward to it. If you are visiting the woonbeurs I hope you come by and say hello. I will be there satuday 25 and sunday 26 th of september ( 11.00-16.00).
Today I the girls spoiled me with these lovely drawings and a jummie breakfast with croissants and sweet kisses, I don't know a better way to celebrate my birthday ;-)
A few weekends ago Mila and Sofia made a small animation at the Welkom thuis festival, they love making these and I love looking at them, I hope there will be many more. Their bit is almost at the end (2.30 min) with the dog and the ball. I think the drawing with the foxes would be great to make into an animation, I saw this link at dos family to make your own stopmotion film how cool is that.
Here are some pages of the book I was writing about a few post before. Yesterday the package arrived with two copies of the Japanese book 'Nederland mijn interieur' ( made by the talented ladies of Driehoek) and I love it, it's so cool see our house and my sweet girls in the book, the pictures Naomi made are really nice and the design of the book is just great!! In the book you can see some very inspiring homes of 12 dutch craftygirls, if you want your own copy you can buy it online at Amazon japan or if you are living in the Netherlands you can find it in the Japanese bookshop in Amstelveen.
I covered this simple stool from IKEA for Mila's desk in her new room. I used all the left over fabrics from the Echino fabric that I used in there room, some pieces of the Kangeroo teatowel from some post before and mixed it with some of my own babushka's on linnen. It was a fun project and I'm quite pleased how it turned out and Mila likes it too. Now I have to get started on Sofia's stool.
We live in Rotterdam one of the largest ports of the world, this weekend it was world harbour days in Rotterdam, we spend two lovely sunny days around the river, visiting and watching boats and enjoying good company and great views, I love days like this in Rotterdam!!
