After gathering images from the internet and in our head it's time to start to put some things on paper. I made a little note book for Mila to write/draw all her ideas for her party, we started to draw birds & feathers and colleting bird related items we have in our house. We already came up with some possible activities for the party, a bird quiz, making a bird cage out of paper and making some sort of birdfood. Of course if you have any ideas we love to hear them.... Time is really going fast and it's time to send out the invitations for Mila's bird party. The drawing of the branch and the sweet little girl on the back are made by Mila, the birds are little pins ( to wear to the party) made out of delicate fabric, felt and some vintage lace, Mila cut the wings then I sewed them and then she cut off all the loose ends. I really like working together on these projects and get the girls involved....this makes it so much more personal dont you think.
While we are busy preparing for Sofia's birthday party I'm also working behind the screens on a online publication about how to create a Bird themed birthday party, based on Mila's 8th birthday party. Since I get so many positive comments about the parties we create I thought it could be fun to share the party in a diffrent way this time with bigger and more pictures and some tutorials, tips and shopping ideas. I hope to put it online somewhere next week and hope you will enjoy it!!
Last week we bought some Japanese tape in Amsterdam, it was hard choosing wich ones to buy, the designs and colours are so nice!! Mila told me that she thought her bed looked a bit boring and asked meif she could use some tape to decorate, the wall stickers of the bird and snail where already there, she made the rest. I love how it turned out, that is the fun thing with the Japanese tape, you can be creative but don't have to worry about the walls.
So I hope you are not bored with all the Frida Kahlo party pictures, I promise it is almost over, but I could not keep this from you. This is the goodie bag we made for the party guests, Sofia made this drawing of Frida and together we designed a colouring book, we added some coloured pencils and cute bird pins and some candy. I have printed some small and big paper bag and also some cards and listed them in my etsy shop so you can have your own Frida party...... or you can come back tomorrow for the Frida give away.....
Mila will have her party this coming saturday so there are some more craft projects going on here, we started making a bird pinata, normally I use balloons to make the basic shape but after seeing this tutorial of Giddy Giddy I thought it could be a great way to try to make a small bird pinata. We will fill it with chocolate eggs and than cover it.
Tomorrow Mila will be 8 years, saturday is the party so you can imagine that there is a lot going on. Last minute shopping, a party dress to finish and treats to bake and decorate for her classmates. The little birds are made by Sofia and Mila, they are made out of fondant and will be used to decoarte the cupcakes we plan to make. The painting of the two birds I made and is part of her birthday present....
Some of you might know already that I love organizing & decorating the birthday parties of my daughters. Although it's still january we already started planning the party of Mila (23 of march), we started to talk about themes and came up with a vintage bird theme ( the vintage twist coming from me of course!). Mila's birthday is in the beginning of spring and Mila loves nature and animals and so we came up with the birds theme. We are now collecting ideas for decoration, food, craftprojects and games, a great way to start a party theme is to make a moodboard, not a real one but a board on Pinterest ( my new love.....), it's a great way to bring all the ideas/ looks that you find on the internet together. 
In the weekend we ( Mila, Sofia and I) made these bird paintings as decoration for Mila's party, it was total coincidence that the branch on my painting (left) connects to the one on Mila's painting ;-)
I have not been posting so much lately because I have been very busy with mostly boring stuff. Today I finally had some time to craft and made this bag as a birthday present for Mila's friend Louiza, for her birthday party they went to the movie 'the fox and the child' and we thought it would be nice to make something with a fox. Mila made a drawing from a tree, the bird and sun and I made the fox. The bag is made from a lovely linnen with a felt applique, the bag closes with a fabric button.
