Next month Sofia will celebrate her 11th birthday, so we need to start with the party planning. Actually we already choose a theme and had a few ideas but....
Normally we celebrate the birthday on a saturday starting around 11 so we have plenty of time to do some craft activities, unwrap presents and eat cake. Now here is the problem, this year Sofia has a ballet performance on her birthday(saturday) so we can't have the kids party that day so we have to do it on friday after school. The theme we had was Indonesia and the activity would be to dye fabrics and print them with wooden stamps, this activity takes quite some time and needs lots of sun to dry the fabrics! So we thought it would be better to choose an other theme that includes dinner, movie watching (in the garden laying on lots of pillows) and a small craft activity.
The first theme that comes to my mind is 1001 nights party, but what film to watch, I have no idea!! The girls are age 9-12 and I have searched but can't find one that seems nice ( they are to old for alladin ;-)
Do you have any idea for a nice (arabic) film or an other party theme idea (including dinner and film in the garden)??

Of gewoon n hele hysterische Bollywood film? Heel braaf, maar niet kinderachtig? :D
En een Chinese party? Kimono's, eten met stokjes, chinese nachtegaal? Er zijn vast mooie chineze films.
Of is er geen film van ali babba????
Zit niet zo in de fims.
Su6 ermee.
what about a Hollywood Theme and dress as movie stars like Marilyn and Audrey. West side Story movie is nice....

my daughter (she is 10 years old) watched many times "Azur et Asmar", it is a beautiful animated film about tolerance and the quest of 2 boys who want to deliver a fairyof the djins(here is the link : http://www.amazon.fr/Azur-Asmar-Cyril-Mourali/dp/B000N6U1TG
wao! so surprise that you asking for an idea for a theme!! You are the queen of spectacular themes, like nobody else in the virtual world. you are such an inspiration for me. My daughter's birthday is this month and i am putting together a House of Anubis theme party. she's going to be 10 years old, it's a little big of a challenge because everything i have to do from scratch, cause there is nothing in the web with the theme. Last year the theme was Marie Antoinette inspired theme. Can't wait to see what theme you will decide.
Hello! I love this blog but have not left any messages before... Was thinking about your party dilemma and one I've used before was for the children to write and perform a short play. They choose the characters, plot etc. Then it's time to find and make props, practice and present to an audience- mine loved it!
