This is the doll Maya made, her name is Lucie and I think she looks so nice I like the lace Maya added to the Paris skirt and Lucie looks very at home in the kitchen with that lovely apron.
Louise made this very chic doll but didn't stop there, she made a sundress, skirt, pyama, underwear and a nice red coat, I love the little dutch ribbon details....here and here you can see more of the clothes Louise made.
Sofia's birthday party is getting close very fast so I have to get started...first up is the invitation, I already have some ideas and it involves a few extra arms and legs. We did a little test photoshoot yesterday evening when we went for a nice bike ride with the girls. I hope to show you more soon.
Yesterday Mila made a pretty bad fall and hurt her face, hands and knees, she had a lot of pain and criend a lot, now she is feeling better and more calm.
Yes....I made an other wrap dress......they are so much fun to make, this time Mila choose the fabric and pink bias tape and I think it's a lovely combo, the fabric reminded her of her favourite dress ( see top picture summer 2007) made by my friend Marine, that dress is too small now and needed replacement.
We are back home, we spend some time with family in Zeeland in a cottage near the sea. We went there by train, ferry and the last 10 kilometres by bike ( Sofia and Mila too). The other day we made a bike tour along the sea of about 20 km and the girls where amazing, I'm so proud of them, not complaining and being very cool! I think we will go on biking holidays from now on ;-)*****
The morning just before we left I managed to finish two more wrap dresses and took them with me in the train to cut all the threads....and so the girls got to wear their new dresses. I made a red flower wrap dress for Sofia with green bias tape and it looks so good on her don't you think. I will try to make a picture tomorrow of the dress I made for Mila.
We went to our favourite secondhand store yesterday and these are some of the goodies I came home with, some nice fabrics, embroidery hoops so I can make more of these, cute hankies to screenprint and some other things I could not leave behind ;-)
This morning
Mila: Mum, you where doing this clothes week challenge he! Where you have to sew a piece of clothing every day?
Me: Yes.
Mila: But why are you sewing duvet covers and not clothes?
Me: Because we need them too.
Mila: but you will sew the rest of the clothes?
Me: Yes I will....
I did already sew these two dresses using a pattern of one of my favourite Japanese Sewing books ( ISBN4-579-11054-4) with a nice cotton that looks a lot like Liberty but cost a lot less, let the sun come out, we need some warmer weather for these dresses. I will share pictures of the duvet covers too, they are a lot of work too make....but also a lot of fun!
One more dress finished, same pattern, fabric is from schroder ( for the Dutch readers), I love the combi with the blue bias tape!
Oficially this challenge week starts next week but I'll be on holiday so I started a little bit sooner. I made this dress for Sofia from a pattern from Burda Special 2009, I saw this dress on the blog and Flickr of Vlijtige Vink and Meisjes mama and loved it right away. Making the dress was very simple (although my over-lock decided to stop working) and very addictive. I have already cut out fabric for 3 more dresses and hope to sew them within the next few days. Sofia was very happy with her new dress, she has asked me for one several times already et voila....one happy child and one happy mama!!

I love sewing and I love it when children are intrested in sewing and crafts so when Sofia's friend had her birthday party I knew what we would give her. I bought a small carton suitcase and an embroidery hoop. We made a little pincushion and a needle-book from felt with a little heart embroidery made by Sofia, added some fabric and small sewing supplies. I love how it turned out and think that it's a perfect gift for a 10 year old!!
Although we are having some rainy days right now I know the summer is very close and going through the closet of the girls I see that they are in need of some new summer clothes, that is why I love this idea of Elsiemarley, to sew for 1 hour each day the second week of may. I am going to do this, I only have to start a little sooner as we have a small family holiday planned. Are you playing along, see her blog for a lot of links for kids-clothes inspiration and tutorials!!!
We have been working a lot here in our house the kidsroom & our bedroom like you see in the picture are gone. Sofia and Mila have grown a lot and needed new and bigger beds so we did a room swap, they are now in our old bedroom and we are sleeping in their forrest room ( feels like sleeping in a shabby hotelrrom ;-) I painted their new room white and they got a ikea bunkbed, now we have to start to decorate, make desks etc...still a lot to do!
