Orange girls....

Tomorrow we will celebrate queensday...today we have to bake jummie things and choose the costumes for the girls. They will have a booth at the Nieuwe binneweg where they will sell seconhand and handmade things and decorated cupcakes. The costumes still need some work so I better get behind my sewing machine...hope to see you tomorrow.

Fabrics and sewing books

The girls have grown again and are in need of some new summer clothes. I joined KCWC and I need to be prepared to get the most out of it. I have a big stack of lovely fabrics waiting to be turned in summer outfits. The list what I need/want to make for the girls is growing every day, they both need some spring/summer coats, shorts and of course a dress or two.... For almost all the clothes I make for the kids I use patterns from my pile of Japanese sewing books, I like the simple shape of the clothes much better than the patterns you'll find in Burda and Knippie. Do you like sewing clothes for your kids? What patterns do you like to use?

Sewing lesson # 1

The girls really want to learn how to sew, they have made some fabric things in the past but now they think it's time for the real thing! Yesterday they had lesson one, they started with handsewing some clothes for their doll/softie and in the afternoon there was some machine sewing. They made a simple skirt from this nice blue batik fabric. They did most of the sewing themselves, I stood behind them looking over their schoulder and give some tips etc...

Our easter weekend

We had a very warm and sunny easter weekend with a delicious lunch in our garden, lots of bike rides and picknics with view over the river. The girls have a two week holiday and they have asked for sewing lessons so that is what we will do....

Vintage hankies in the shop

Today the sun is shining outside and i needed a good excuse to get away from my computer, so I decided to take some pictures of the vintage hankies I screenprinted some time ago. It so nice to spend time in the sun and enjoying the spring flowers and a warm breeze.... If you like the hankies you can find them in my Etsy shop.

A tutorial for Crescer

A little while ago I was contacted by a Brasilian kids magazine Crescer asking about our kids birthday parties, they asked if they could do a little interview and publish some pictures of Sofia's Japanese party. The magazine is out now ( I haven't seen the article yet ) and the tutorial I made is published on their website here. I can't wait to see Sofia's party in print.

Spring garden

This weekend we had some lovely spring weather so we cleared up the garden. Now we just have to buy some new pot plants and I plan to give the inside of the Roulotte a good clean and a small make over next week when the girls have their school holidays.

Kids clothes week spring 2011

The weather is getting better and the girls are in need of new clothes!! I love sewing clothes for them but not always find the time to do so, a perfect solution is to join me and many others in the Kids clothes week from Elsie Marley. Make a commitment to sew kids clothes for 1 hour a day for 7 days. It feels great to finish up several pieces in just one week. On Elsie Marley's blog you can find lot's of inspiration to keep you going. Above are just some of the clothes that I have sewed for the girls over the last couple of years....hope to add some new clothes soon.

Knitting

I'm spending most working days behind my computer working with photoshop on something I really hope to show soon, it's taking me longer than I planned, while sitting behind my computer( sometimes he is rather slow) I have company, our new cat on my lap and I started to knit a scarf for a doll with Mila's new needles, I'm not really a knitter but a small project like this I can handle...

Sofia is invited to a Alice in Wondeland party, don't you love the invitation she recieved? The invitation was printed on tea coloured paper and came with a custom tea bag and cookie!! Sofia will be dressed as the Mad Hatter so I customized a plain black hat we had laying around.

A lovely day

Not so many posts lately, busy with my small big project! This sunday the weather was nice and sunny and we went for a bikeride to a big park here in Rotterdam, enjoying the outdoors and my new app Instagram ( I have seen/read about it on several blogs and just had to try it!) I really like this app and could not stop playing with it. Here are some of the pictures I liked best! Doesn't Rotterdam look impressive!
