In November my parents celebrated their 40 years of marriage, to find a suitable present was not easy. After some thinking we (my sister and I) to give them 40 presents that they could open in the following next 40 days. Brussel

During our holiday we visited Brussel, we walked a lot and saw a lot. It was rainy and grey weather and I forgot my camera so I only have blurry instagram pictures to show you. We had a lovely time, we visited the Horta house, the cartoon museum, magritte museum, a chocolate atelier, anatonium and some nice shops too. In this city Mila and I found the inspiration for her birthday party theme, can you guess what it is?

Hello again, I stayed away from my blog way longer than I planned! I enjoyed my time being off-line but I'm very happy to be back. I hope you all had a lovely holiday season and started the new year in a good way. I have been busy behind the screens and there are some exciting things happening this year I think! I spend some real quality time with my family. We had a lovely visit in Brussel and found some great inspiration for Mila's birthday party there, more about that an other time.

Look what I recieved all the way from sweden, Floortje send me this great package filled with pretty, fun, tasty things, I think it's a great way to start of Christmas. I look foward on sipping a cup of that lovely fragrant tea and cuddle up on the sofa with the family living, sounds perfect to me ;-)

Firts there are still a few things to be done untill I can sit and relax. Today I will decorate Christmas cookie houses for their school christmas party and I need to sew a party skirt for Mila.

wood & wool stool

It's so nice to see the things I made in their new home, photograped by their new owners! Above you see the eiffel tower I made for Ingrid, I really like that stack of colorful wool next to it. The cute little christmas tree was made by Ingrid from Wood& wool stool, but hangs in the very pretty house of Marlous from Planet Fur, both ladies made some really nice christmas decorations for their home. We just bought our tree yesterday and start decorating tomorrow, today I will try to make miniuture christmas gardens with the girls and their grandfather, untill then I will try to catch up with all the e-mails.

Mila's classmate celebrated her birthday and instead of handing out cakes or sweets she handed out a book and some fruit. The book is 'het broodtrommel boek' a book to inspire to make nice lunchboxes instead of the boring sandwich with peanut butter everyday. The book is written and designed by Marije Vogelzang, who happens to be the mother of Mila's classmate ;-) Visit her website and take a look at her portfolio, it's filled with many interesting projects like this project Eat Love Budapest.

Mmmmm....macarons

You perhaps already know I love macarns, I have (tried) to bake them several times using different recipes and sometimes it worked and sometimes it did not. When I was in France I bough a package macarons mix in the supermarket and the macarons I made with it turned out quite nice, of course not as good as the ones you can buy / eat in France but certainly nicer than most of the macaraons you can buy in the Netherlands. A few days ago I found these macarons mix packages at the Xenos and bought a few to try, this weekend I baked the strawberry macarons, it was very easy and the result quite pleasing. The taste is ok, not fantastic, but I like how the shape and the important little feet turned out! All in all I would say it's a succes and I will use the mix again, but it won't stop me to try to bake them all by myself again ....

For Mila Christmas came early this year, she got a very nice package all the way from France, these very cute, comfortable and fun sock slippers from the French company Collégien. We where offered to try out a pair for free and even better I can give away one pair to one of you too ;-) I visited the website together with Mila and looked at all the designs, I can tell you it's a difficult choise, for me at least, I really liked the matroyska inspired ones and of course the french stripes ;-) But Mila she knew right away wich pair she wanted! They are called Farwest and reminded her of a little Indian girl, so inspired by Collégien and Mila I made a little Indian outfit for the Paris doll to go with Mila's new slippers. Mila was also inspired and made this cute Camera from carton !

A handmade Advent

This year I have started pretty late on the advent calendar for the girls, we have a garland of numbered socks to hang and to be filled but I just didn't find the time to do so. Finally yesterday when the girls came back from school they found the socks hanging in their room filled with goodies. I wanted to fill the socks with pretty little things for crafting, above you can see what I found. Some items I bought like the knitting fork, heartshaped popmpom maker, wooden star and some came from my own collection like the ribbons and zippers. To finish it off I wrapped everything in pattern paper and red and white string.

I love Milk

I love magazine, I really like interior magazines, I really really love kids interior magazines and I really really really love Milk! I have been reading milk from the beginning and I just love it, there has not jet been any issue that dissapointed me and I love flipping through the old issues. I just bought the new issue and also their milk decoration book ( for the people in Rotterdam, you can find the book at Snoek). So many nice interiors and design objects. The picture above is taken in the girls room, these are the shelves of Mila, she loves collecting little animals, japanese tape and much more....the cute white bunny is a little light, you can find it here.

The wintermarket

Yesterday we had our wintermarket, we had a great day meeting very nice people! The girls had a lovely time and did great running the cafe in the garden selling cookies and hot chocolate. Inside they had there own shop and helped their customers ;-)

I know i have blogged already today but I could not keep this untill tomorrow!! The girls have been busy drawing and sewing and I love what they have made so far. I made a screenprint of their super cute drawings that they used to make fabric houses and ornaments. They also made drawings to make buttons and thanks of Lisa I could make them, I spend a lovely time at her shop chatting and making the buttons, thanks again Lisa!! We will have a little christmas market at our home again this year and we are already busy preparing. The girls made lots of pretty drawings that I will try to put on screen today so I can print their own fabric and they can make some pretty things to sell. As time goes so fast i did not make an official invitation but i think this drawing Sofia made is perfect. A sewing machine

Last Saturday Mila went to a birthday party and I had some alone time with Sofia! We went to my workroom and made this colourfull sewing machine cover together. I had a great time working with Sofia on this project, we made the design together and Sofia did all the detailing, she used iron on velours for the numbers and some buttons and hand embroidery for more details. We are very pleased with the result and we had a great time chatting and sewing ;-)

Crafting with Mila

Mila had a birthday party to go to this weekend from her friend Mar. We decided making an other sewing set only this time we worked together with an other mum & daughter who also made their part of the set and we decided on a sewing & knitting set. Mila & me made a sort of knitting needle holder decorated on the inside with a felt fox ( I used the pattern from the fox mask) and Mila decorated the outside with embroidery & iron on velours. I made a little pincushion & added some wool and thread. I hope she liked the present and will spend many hours sewing & knitting.

It's been already a long time ago that Sofia celebrated her birthday, we had a sewing birthday party for her and of course I took lots of pictures that I planned to share but still haven't found the time to do so. Here you can see the button lollies we made as a treat for her friends. I recently made them again as a treat for the goodiebag for the DIY gifts and packaging workshop I teached at Elle Aime. They are fun to make and look so cute!

Eiffel Towers & tissue holders

One of the extra's you can find with the doll & rabbit kits is a screenprinted eiffel tower, here you can see some I sewed last night, you can add a little ribbon so you can hang it in the christmas tree ;-) The fabric piece with the parfume bottles and camera's can also been made in a little tissue holder. Last few days I have been surrounded by lots of dolls and rabbit and I like it. I finished a order for a new shop in Germany and I took pictures of the new sets. I listed the new sets in the shop, the red I love paris doll, the blue I love Paris doll, the red Paris rabbit and the blue Paris rabbit. How do you like all those tiny paris shopping bags? looking good? Sofia helped me sewing them and I 'payed' her with a red rabbit kit ;-) now she wants to work for me she says !!

Yesterday two big rolls of my own designed fabric arrived and I'm so happy. I have been dreaming taking this step for a long time and I'm very happy and proud it's here. The renewed doll and rabbit kits, only a few small changes are made, the rabbit set now also comes with an eiffeltour and the doll has some small cameras and parfume bottles added. I will be listing the new sets in my shop later today.

We are not celebrating halloween with our family, but we like dressing up and dressing up the dolls too, after the fox mask I made a little owl mask and then the idea for a feather owl cape came to me. I will make a tutorial for the fox and owl mask soon and perhaps one for the cape as well.

I asked the girls to make some cute drawing so I can screenprint them for a fun project I have in mind for their christmas market. When the girls started they could not stop...I love all these little figures they came up with and can't wait to put them on screen. Yesterday I gave a workshop DIY gifts & packaging together with Lisa at her shop Elle Aime. I had a great day being surrounded by creative people and lots of pretty crafty materials. Here you can see some pictures from just before we started, we had a table full of examples of creative packaging, there was a goodiebag for everybody at the end of the day filled with crafty materials and a chocolate button lollie and my fabric crafting table with baskets filled with fabric remnants to make your own tissue holder.

Who doesn't love Japanese tape? Of course you can buy it online and in quite some shops but there was no shop yet in Rotterdam selling this pretty tape, untill now. KCWC (kids clothes week challenge)

A few weeks ago I sewed this jeans jacket for Sofia, she loves it and I loved making it (exept for the button holes!!!) If you like sewing clothes for your kids it could be fun to join KCWC over at Elsie marley blog. A challenge to commit to sew children's clothes for an hour each day for 7 days. I have joined a few times before and think I will join in again although it will be a challenge to find the time. I like all the tutorials you can find on her blog and inspiration on her flickr page. So come on and join me and sew some cute little outfits for our kids!!

I love magazines and I have quite a collection at home, what I love even more is online magazines because these don't take up any space in my room! I have mentioned a few of my favourites already here on my blog and I'm happy to add a new one to my list. Moodies a Dutch online magazine made by Moodkids, in the magazine you can find fashion, shopping, inspiration and I love the ideas for creative lunchboxes. I 'm very happy that finally there is a nice dutch online ( kids) magazine and can't wait to see the next issue!

Going to the circus

Saturday we went to the launch party of Appracadabra, the theme of the party was Circus, I love that theme and so do the girls (they started circus school this year). So the girls dressed up and I made a circus coat for one of the Rabbits and a sweet bowtie and a circus rabbit was born. The rabbit was a gift for the team of Appracadabra and I heard that he will get a special place at their new office!

Yesterday was just such a lovely sunny and happy day! The weather was so amazing, just felt like a summer day. I started my work day at Rotabs, I had a meeting with Lisa from the cute shop Elle Aime talking about a workshop we will organise together ( looking forward to that) spend some quality time with Mila eating sushi on a terasse and recieving a super big package from our friend Karen from the wunderful Misha Lulu.

I was invited by sanoma for the blog meetup at the woonbeurs last saturday, I had such a great day meeting up with about 40 bloggers.I felt like a vip, we got a press pass, lunch, goodiebags and a drink afterwards and got to meet the editors of Vt-wonen en 101 woonideeen, These pictures above are from the vt wonen huis. I liked the colours and all the diffrent textures. Tomorrow I will share some more pictures and links to some of the bloggers I got to meet.

Such a lovely weekend it was, on saturday I had a super day at the woonbeurs in Amsterdam and on sunday I enjoyed the sun and the flowers in our garden. For the pictures above I used Instagram, they recently updated with some new filters and a great new option to choose if you want a frame or not! Tomorrow I'll be back with more about the woonbeurs.

I'm so happy to show you this great new app by appracadabra I've seen the trailer already some time ago and could not wait to see the end result. I downloaded it yesterday and Mila and Sofia love it, what I like about this app is that it's great for young children but also very nice for big children and even grown ups. I think it's the stylish illustrations by Caroline Ellerbeck and the humour that makes this a great app. You can buy the app here and if you like to read more about appracadabra and what they are up too visted them here.

Here I am again...one year older ...Lots has happend in this one week. I celebrated my birthday and was spoiled with very nice and thoughtfull presents and a jummie breakfast. Our computer crashed completly so we have an other one now ( being without a computer for a whole week when you need to work is kind of frustrating!!!) We sold our bakfiets after 5 or is it 6 years of faithfull duty, i loved my bike and i will miss it! and last but not least we got a new (doll)house....I hope to find a nice space for it in my work room and use it as a display area.

So my computer is still acting up and I think it's time for a new one, in the meantime my man managed to fix it a little bit so I can get certain things done. I've been busy with a big project and these parfume bottles and cameras are just a little part of it.I hope to share some more info soon. Hoping you will have a great weekend.
